Marina gently squeezed her father’s weathered hand and shook her head side to side. "This is not your fault, Dad. Gustavo is a master manipulator, an incredible actor, and he constructed a flawless, invisible cage to keep me trapped."
She took a long, stabilizing breath and began to pour out the deepest, darkest secrets of her reality, exposing the raw, brutal truth behind the glamorous marriage that high society had always admired. she meticulously detailed to her father the insidious, gradual process Gustavo had used to strip away every single ounce of her personal freedom.
"In the beginning, he acted like he was just overprotective. He told me he didn't want me to stress about working. But then he forced me to resign from my job and entirely froze my personal bank accounts. He controlled every single penny I ever touched," Marina recalled bitterly, staring at the white ceiling. "He installed location tracking software on my phone. Whenever I wanted to meet a friend for lunch or call you and Mom, he would stand right behind me, forcing me to put on a fake, happy voice."
