Before leaving the room, Luca turned back to Mia. The fierce, terrifying syndicate boss paused, allowing a rare moment of vulnerability to show through his hardened exterior.
“You stay here with her,” Luca instructed, his tone brooking no argument. “I am leaving six of my best men to guard this hallway. Nobody gets in or out until I return. Lock the door.”
“I will guard her with my life, sir,” Mia promised fiercely, her eyes meeting his without a flinch. She had already proven that tonight, and they both knew it.

Mia immediately walked over to the heavy oak door and threw the brass deadbolt, securing the room. She turned back to Sofia, offering a gentle, reassuring smile that masked her own lingering anxiety.
