Chapter 9 - The Impossible Warning

Lucia shook her head frantically, crawling forward to the very edge of the landing, looking desperately down at Valeria.
"No, you don't understand!"
Lucia cried, gripping the wooden spindles of the banister.
"If I didn't push you out of the way..."
Lucia choked on a massive sob, pointing a trembling finger upward toward the vaulted ceiling.
"You would have died!"
The entire room fell into an absolute, breathless silence. No one, not the elite guests, not the security guards, and certainly not Valeria, understood the seemingly insane words the maid had just screamed.
