Chapter 5 - The Violent Push

Lucia raised both of her hands, her palms facing outward.
Tears were streaming wildly down the young maid's terrified face.
"No!"
Valeria screamed, realizing the horrifying reality of what was about to happen.
Lucia slammed both of her hands violently into Valeria’s shoulder and chest. It was not a bump. It was not an accident. It was a fierce, desperate, full-body shove fueled by pure adrenaline.
Valeria completely lost her grip on the banister.
The sheer force of the impact lifted her feet off the carpeted marble. The breath was knocked out of her lungs in a sharp, painful gasp.
For a fraction of a second, Valeria felt a weightless, terrifying suspension in the air.
The ultimate betrayal shattered her heart instantly. The one person in the house she thought she could trust had just intentionally thrown a seven-month pregnant woman down a flight of solid stone stairs.
