Chapter 8 - The Tears of a Traitor
Lucia had collapsed onto her knees on the middle landing.
The young maid was weeping uncontrollably, her face buried in her hands, her shoulders shaking violently with heavy, agonizing sobs.
Valeria stared up at her, breathing heavily, completely unable to comprehend the sheer, sociopathic malice of the attack.
"Why...?"
Valeria choked out, her voice cracking with profound despair.
"I trusted you."
Lucia slowly lowered her hands, looking down at the broken, crying pregnant woman on the floor. The maid’s eyes were bloodshot and completely filled with an indescribable horror.
"Please, forgive me..."
Lucia wailed, her voice echoing loudly in the dead silence of the staring crowd.
"I had to do it!"
Valeria’s sorrow instantly morphed into a hot, blinding rage.
