Chapter 30 - The Eternal Light

As the sun began to set over the majestic mountains surrounding the valley, Valeria walked out onto the high balcony of the foundation.
Isabel, now a brilliant, confident teenager preparing for her first year of university, stood by the railing, looking out at the sprawling, vibrant city below.
The evening wind whipped Valeria's dark hair across her face. She breathed in the crisp, clean air, filling her lungs with absolute, total freedom.
She looked down at her own hands. The invisible scars were still there, woven deeply into the fabric of her soul, but they were no longer marks of shame. They were the fierce, beautiful battle scars of a queen who had walked through the absolute depths of hell and emerged holding the keys to the kingdom.
"It's beautiful out here, Mom,"
Isabel smiled, leaning her head on Valeria's shoulder.
"Yes, it is, my love,"
Valeria whispered, wrapping her arm around her daughter.
Fear no longer ruled their family. The monsters had been banished to the dark, and the golden cage had been shattered into a million unrecognizable pieces.

Valeria looked up at the endless, brilliant horizon stretching infinitely before her.
And for the rest of her life, she was entirely, beautifully free.
