Chapter 28 - A New Partnership

After the summit, a reception was held in the elegant, glass-walled lobby overlooking Lake Geneva.

Valeria was sipping sparkling water, gracefully navigating the endless stream of diplomats offering their congratulations, when a tall, sharp-looking man approached her.

"Ms. Morales,"

The man said, his voice deep and deeply respectful.

"I am Julian Vance. I am the lead international prosecutor for the Human Rights Tribunal at The Hague."

"Mr. Vance,"

Valeria replied, shaking his hand firmly.

"Your speech was extraordinary. But more importantly, your legislation in Mexico is flawlessly aggressive. I would like to partner with your foundation to draft similar asset-freezing mandates for the European Union."

Julian explained, his dark eyes looking at her with an intense, genuine admiration that had absolutely nothing to do with her appearance, and everything to do with her brilliant mind.

Valeria smiled, feeling a spark of intellectual and professional intrigue.

"I warn you, Mr. Vance. I do not compromise, and I do not negotiate with abusers,"

Valeria stated smoothly, testing him.

"I wouldn't expect you to,"

Julian smiled back, a fiercely ethical, unwavering expression.
