Chapter 24 - The Garden of Healing

The next morning, the sun rose brightly over the safe house, bringing a warm, golden light to the secure courtyard garden.

The horrific tension of the previous night had completely evaporated, replaced by a profound, overwhelming sense of relief and absolute safety.

Valeria walked out into the garden, carrying a cup of chamomile tea.

Sofia was sitting on a wooden bench under a large oak tree, watching her toddler play in the green grass. When she saw Valeria approaching, Sofia stood up immediately, tears of pure, unadulterated gratitude spilling over her healing bruises.

"They said on the news that he was denied bail,"

Sofia whispered, her voice trembling with joyous disbelief.

"He is facing twenty years in federal prison."

"He will never hurt you again, Sofia. The monster is gone,"

Valeria smiled warmly, placing a gentle, comforting hand on the younger woman's shoulder.

"You saved my life, Ms. Valeria. You saved my daughter."

Sofia sobbed, throwing her arms around Valeria in a fierce, desperate hug.

Valeria hugged her back, closing her eyes as a deep, profound peace settled over her soul. This was the true inheritance she was building. A legacy of absolute protection. A world where women did not have to run anymore.
