Chapter 18 - Seizing the Empire

With Marcus awaiting trial in a maximum-security federal prison and Eleanor on the run in Europe, Vance Holdings was left completely paralyzed. The corporate board of directors, terrified of the massive federal RICO indictments, were desperately trying to liquidate assets to pay off astronomical legal fines.

But Elena wasn't about to let the corrupt executives quietly dismantle the company and walk away rich. Working alongside a team of ruthless civil litigators, Elena filed a massive, unprecedented victim restitution lawsuit against the Vance estate.

"Because Marcus and Eleanor used corporate funds to facilitate domestic abuse, bribery, and attempted kidnapping, the company itself is civilly liable for the damages," Elena’s lead attorney explained during a press conference on the steps of the federal courthouse. "We are not asking for a simple settlement. We are demanding the total liquidation of the corrupt divisions of Vance Holdings to establish a permanent restitution fund for survivors of domestic violence."

The lawsuit completely suffocated the remaining Vance executives. With undeniable forensic evidence proving the company’s resources were used to hire mercenaries and silence victims, the board had no legal defense. Within three months, a federal judge ordered the catastrophic seizure of Marcus and Eleanor’s primary assets.

The sprawling Atlanta estate, the private jets, the offshore accounts, and the luxury penthouses were completely seized and auctioned off by the federal government. The billions of dollars amassed through decades of cruelty were systematically redirected.

Elena stood on the sidewalk outside the Atlanta estate, holding Maya’s hand as a massive "FORECLOSURE AND SEIZURE" sign was hammered into the pristine front lawn. The towering, intimidating mansion that had once been the seat of Eleanor’s terrifying power now looked empty and powerless.

"Is the bad lady's house gone, Mommy?" Maya asked softly, looking at the massive wrought-iron gates.

"Yes, sweetie," Elena smiled, feeling a profound, absolute sense of closure wash over her. "The house is gone. The bad men are gone. We took their power away, and we are going to use it to help people who are scared, just like we used to be."
