The immediate aftermath of Clara’s arrest was a whirlwind of intense medical interventions and complex legal battles. Daniel fired the treacherous Dr. Aris immediately, ensuring his medical license was permanently revoked, and hired a team of the best independent neurologists and toxicologists in the country to treat his mother.
"The good news, Mr. Carter,"
the lead neurologist explained gently, sitting in the grand living room a week later,
"is that the neurotoxin is entirely out of her system. Because you intervened before she suffered total respiratory failure, her brain is slowly beginning to heal. The dementia-like symptoms were chemically induced, not naturally occurring."
"Will she ever be the same?"
Daniel asked, looking toward the sunlit bedroom where his mother was resting.
"It will require extensive, grueling physical and cognitive therapy,"
the doctor answered honestly.
"But she is an incredibly strong woman. With the right care and a safe environment, she will regain a significant portion of her independence."
Elena stepped forward, holding a tray of fresh water and medications. She was no longer wearing the standard maid's uniform. Daniel had flatly refused to treat her as a mere employee ever again.
"I will help her with the exercises every single day,"
Elena promised, her dark eyes shining with fierce, protective determination.
