Chapter 18 - The Proposal

|
It was Christmas Eve, exactly one year since Dominic had found Lily under the staircase.
The penthouse was decorated with a massive tree, but there was no extravagant party, no hundreds of guests. Just Enzo, Clara, a few close friends, and family.
Lily was running around in a velvet red dress, laughing as Enzo chased her with a new stuffed bear.
Dominic pulled Sophia away from the noise, leading her out onto the private rooftop terrace. Snow was falling gently over the city, identical to the night they had found each other again.
“It’s quiet out here,” Sophia smiled, pulling her shawl tighter against the chill.
“I wanted a minute alone with you,” Dominic said. He looked nervous—a rare expression for the most feared man in New York.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. Sophia gasped, her hands flying to her mouth.
Dominic dropped to one knee on the snow-dusted tiles.
“Four years ago, I let my world tear us apart,” Dominic said, his voice thick with emotion. “I spent every day since trying to find my way back to you. You are my light, Sophia. You are my queen, my heart, and the mother of my beautiful daughter.”
He opened the box. Inside rested a flawless, massive diamond ring.
“Will you marry me?” he asked.
May you like
Sophia didn't hesitate. Tears streaming down her face, she threw herself into his arms, knocking him back onto the snowy terrace as she kissed him wildly.
“Yes,” she laughed against his lips. “Yes, a thousand times yes.”
