The successful prosecution of Julian Croft catapulted Haven Ledger into the national spotlight. The media picked up the story of the coastal foundation that used forensic accounting to destroy a multi-million dollar domestic abuse and fraud syndicate.
Overnight, our quiet office was flooded with emails, phone calls, and desperate pleas for help from women across the country who were trapped in financial cages.
I sat at the head of the conference table, surrounded by new faces. We had hired three additional forensic accountants, two social workers, and a team of paralegals. Sophia had officially made Haven Ledger a named partner in a massive, nationwide class-action lawsuit against banks that turned a blind eye to coercive financial control.
"We have sixty-four new active cases this week," Chloe announced, dropping a thick stack of intake forms onto the table. "They range from stolen credit lines to hidden cryptocurrency wallets. These abusers are getting creative."
"Then we get more creative," I said, looking around the room at my team. "We update our algorithms. We track the blockchain. We subpoena the holding companies. They think they can hide behind complex financial jargon, but at the end of the day, it's just math. And we are better at math than they are."
The team nodded, diving into the files with relentless determination.
I walked back to my private office and looked at the wall. Beside the framed black charging port from my old kitchen island, I had hung a new frame. Inside was the printed access code to the Apex Holdings ledger—the code Dominic thought would mock me, but instead had been the key to his complete destruction.
It was a reminder that the weapons our abusers forge against us can always be turned around.
