Chapter 65 - The Twilight Stroll

As our hair turned entirely silver and our steps grew a little slower, the bond between us only deepened, solidifying into something entirely unbreakable.
One evening, just as the sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, we took a slow stroll to the very edge of our property.
The sky was a masterpiece of bruised purples, deep oranges, and brilliant golds.
"We have walked this path a thousand times,"
Alexander noted, holding my arm securely as we navigated the cobblestones.
"And yet, it never looks the same,"
I replied, looking at the vibrant, shifting colors of the sunset.
"That is because we are not the same,"
Alexander said wisely.
"Every time we walk it, we have loved each other a day longer. The path changes because we change."
I stopped walking, turning to look up at the man who had been my shield, my partner, and the absolute love of my life.
"I love you, Alexander,"
I whispered.

"More than life itself,"
He replied, kissing me gently under the twilight sky.
