Chapter 12 - The Digital Truth

The audio recording played, slicing through the dead silence of the ballroom with crystal-clear precision.
It was Julian's voice, recorded from the hidden dashcam inside his Lexus just three days prior. The sound of the car engine purred softly in the background.
"I'm so sick of this, Chloe," Julian's recorded voice sighed heavily. "Claire is suffocating me. She's so boring, so obsessed with playing the perfect suburban housewife. I can't stand looking at her anymore."
A collective gasp echoed through the VIP section. Chloe covered her mouth with her hand, realizing she was heavily implicated in the audio.
"Then leave her, Julian," Chloe's recorded voice whined. "You promised me you'd file the papers by Christmas."
"I will, baby, I promise," Julian's voice replied smoothly. "I just need to finish transferring the last of the joint investment funds into the Cayman account. Once the money is secured, I'm serving her papers and taking the River North penthouse. We'll be in Paris for New Year's."
The recording continued, but the damage was already catastrophic.
"What about Leo?" Chloe's voice asked carelessly.
Julian's recorded laugh sent a chill down my spine. "I'll get every other weekend. Honestly, the kid is too much like his mother anyway. He'll be fine."
Leo tapped the screen, pausing the audio.
The silence that followed was absolute and devastating. It was a silence so profound that it felt like the air had been sucked out of the room entirely.
Julian remained on one knee, frozen in a state of absolute, undeniable ruin. His own voice had just convicted him of financial fraud, profound marital betrayal, and worse—the casual, callous dismissal of his own son.

Leo looked down at his father, his dark eyes burning with a fierce, unbreakable strength.
"You're pathetic," Leo whispered.
