The morning after the gala, Dominic’s intelligence team began digging into the DeLuca family archives.
What they uncovered stunned us all.
Marco walked into the study, laying a thick manila folder on Dominic’s desk.
“Boss, you need to see this,” Marco said grimly. “We checked the old registry records from twenty years ago. Skyler’s birth record wasn't randomly lost in the foster system.”
I stepped forward, my heart pounding against my ribs. “What do you mean?”
Marco pulled out an old, faded document bearing the official seal of the Italian syndicate.
“Skyler’s biological father was Julian Vance,” Marco revealed. “Vance Moretti’s younger brother—the former head of the Moretti family who died in a mysterious car crash twenty years ago.”
I gasped, stumbling back into Dominic’s arms. “What? I’m... I’m a Moretti?”
“No,” Marco corrected gently. “Julian Vance was a good man. He refused to participate in Vance Moretti’s human trafficking and extortion networks. When Julian died, Vance hid his baby daughter—you—in the foster system so he could seize full control of the Moretti estate.”

“You’re not a maid, Skyler,” Dominic murmured into my hair, his voice filled with fierce emotion. “You are the true, lawful heir to the entire Moretti empire.”
