Chapter 15 - Cornered Snake

I took his hand, and he led me out of the estate to a waiting sleek black limousine.

We drove down the coast to a quiet, breathtaking cliffside estate in Long Island. It was a sprawling mansion built of white stone and glass, overlooking the sparkling blue Atlantic Ocean.

“Where are we?” I asked, looking around in awe as we stepped out of the car.

“This was the Moretti family’s private summer estate,” Dominic explained, guiding me up the grand marble steps. “As of eight o'clock this morning, the deed was transferred into your name.”

I stopped dead in my tracks, staring at him. “My name? Dominic, this place is worth twenty million dollars!”

“It belongs to you,” Dominic insisted, taking both of my hands in his. “A gift for everything you’ve endured. A place where you can paint, relax, and live without ever hearing the word ‘servant’ again.”

I looked up at the breathtaking estate, tears welling in my eyes. Two years ago, I was sleeping on a cot in a foster home, scrubbing floors for minimum wage. Now, I was standing on the steps of my own coastal mansion.

“Why are you doing all this for me, Dominic?” I asked, my voice cracking with emotion.

Dominic pulled me close, wrapping his arms around my waist. He looked deep into my eyes, his dark gaze filled with absolute devotion.

“Because I’m in love with you, Skyler,” he confessed softly. “I was in love with you the moment I saw you standing up to Bianca in the conservatory, bleeding on the tile, refusing to bow down to anyone.”

My heart soared. “I love you too, Dominic. More than anything.”

He pulled me into a passion-filled kiss that lasted until the sun began to set over the ocean, painting the sky in shades of gold and purple.
