Chapter 13 - The Leaked Tapes

Bianca sobbed hysterically, her arrogant defense completely shattered. “Please! Dominic! My father made me do it! He said we had to kill your mother to break your spirit!”
“Your father is already dead,” Dominic revealed coldly.
Bianca froze, her eyes wide with terror. “What... what did you say?”
“Vance Moretti stepped into my trap at the docks,” Dominic said smoothly. “He was executed twenty minutes ago by the Commission.”
Bianca let out a horrifying shriek of grief and horror.
Dominic dropped her back onto the floor like a sack of trash. Marco stepped forward, slapping heavy steel handcuffs onto Bianca’s wrists.
“Take her to the Commission cellars,” Dominic ordered Marco. “Let them decide how to end the Moretti bloodline.”
Dominic tossed his weapon aside and turned to me.
I was standing near the pantry, the handgun still gripped firmly in my hands, my body trembling from the release of adrenaline.
Dominic crossed the kitchen in two long strides, pulling me fiercely into his arms. He buried his face in my hair, his heart hammering violently against his chest.
“Are you hurt? Did they touch you?” he rasped, his hands checking my arms, my face, my waist.
“I’m okay,” I sobbed, tears finally spilling down my cheeks as I held onto him. “I locked Carmela in the linen closet—she’s safe!”
Dominic kissed my forehead, my lips, my cheeks, his hands shaking as he held me.

“You fought them off,” he murmured in absolute wonder, looking down at the fallen hitman in the hallway. “You protected this house again.”
“I told you,” I whispered, forcing a bruised smile. “I’m not letting anyone hurt our family.”
