Chapter 17 - Ethan's Decision
The Hargrove Technology Corporation held its annual shareholder meeting.
The auditorium sparkled with bright lights and expensive suits.
Ethan stood at the podium.
Everyone awaited the announcement of a new software project.
Instead, Ethan looked down at the very front row.
Where Rosa, Lily, and Oliver were sitting.
"Ten years ago," Ethan began. "I thought success was measured by the numbers on an electronic board."
The entire auditorium went dead silent.
"Today, I realize I was wrong."
He took a deep breath.
"I am announcing my resignation as CEO of this corporation."
Whispers erupted across the room.
"I will be handing executive control over to the board of directors."
A major shareholder stood up.
"What do you plan to do, Mr. Hargrove?"
Ethan smiled.
The most genuine smile he had ever worn.
"I will dedicate my time entirely to The Tomorrow Foundation."
He looked straight at Lily.
"And I will be a full-time stay-at-home father."
There was no applause from the investors.

But Ethan didn't care.
The only applause he needed was the tight embrace of his family when he stepped off that stage.
