Chapter 14 - Ghosts of the Past

Five years passed.
Lily was twelve. Oliver was fifteen.
The Hargrove estate was always brimming with life.
Until one morning, a handwritten letter appeared in the mailbox.
The sender left no name.
But Rosa recognized the handwriting.
It was the handwriting of the mother who had abandoned her years ago.
The letter trembled in her hands.
"They want to see me," Rosa said softly, her voice breaking.
Ethan stopped reading the newspaper and stepped over to hold her.
"Do you want to go?"
"I'm scared."
"I will go with you."
"What if they are exactly the same as before?"
Ethan kissed her forehead.
"Then you are still Rosa Hargrove. You still have a family waiting for you at home."
His words acted as an anchor.
Rosa closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
"I will go."
