Chapter 26 - Blood in the Docks

"Get Harper into the armored sedan now," Gabriel ordered Marcus quietly as soon as the dance ended, his voice dripping with venom.

"What about you, boss?" Marcus asked, his hand dropping toward his hidden shoulder holster.

"Moreau is here," Gabriel gritted out.

"He’s playing a game. He wants me to chase him into the shadows."

Harper grabbed Gabriel’s forearm, her eyes filled with sudden panic.

"Gabriel, don't go after him alone! It’s a trap!"

"I'm not alone, Harper," Gabriel reassured her, pressing a quick, fierce kiss to her lips.

"Marcus, take her home. Lock the estate down completely."

Gabriel slipped out through the VIP exit into the torrential rain outside, accompanied by six of his elite guards.

They sped toward the South Boston harbor in two black SUVs. The rain pounded against the windshield like thrown pebbles as they arrived at Pier 42—Moreau’s suspected base of operations.

The warehouse was pitch black. Gabriel led his men inside, weapons raised, tactical lights cutting through the darkness.

Inside, the warehouse was completely empty—except for a single wooden chair sitting in the center of the concrete floor.

On the chair sat a old-fashioned gramophone, its needle scratching against a spinning vinyl record.

A smooth, raspy voice echoed through the speaker:

"Welcome home, my dear Gabriel. Did you really think you could play the happy family man in my city?"
