Chapter 47 - The Silver Bracelet

It was a quiet Friday evening. The office was empty.

I sat at my desk, the only light coming from the small desk lamp. I opened the bottom drawer and pulled out a small, velvet box.

Inside rested the silver bracelet. The one my father had given me on my fortieth birthday. The exact replica of the one that had unraveled my life.

I didn't wear it every day anymore. I didn't need to. The lesson was permanently etched into my soul. But I kept it close, a silent anchor to the reality of my journey.

Noah walked into the office, carrying a stack of files. "Ready to head home, Mom? James is making dinner."

"I'm ready," I smiled, closing the velvet box.

I looked at my son. He was brilliant, kind, and entirely unbroken by the sins of his father. I looked at the empire I had built, the laws I had changed, and the thousands of women who were safe because I had chosen to fight.

I stood up, grabbed my coat, and turned off the desk lamp.

The darkness didn't scare me anymore. I knew exactly where all the monsters were buried, and I held the keys to all the cages.

I walked out of the office, stepping into the bright hallway alongside my son. The audit was finished. The ledger was balanced. And the truth was incredibly, eternally sweet.
