Chapter 30 - The Digital Garage

Elena sat across from me, her hands trembling as she clutched a paper cup of water. She was terrified of the man she had married, paralyzed by the illusion of his power.
"He told me I was crazy, Emma," Elena whispered, tears spilling down her cheeks. "He told me the storage unit was just for old office supplies. But I know he’s lying."
"They always tell you you're crazy, Elena," I said softly, leaning forward. "It is the oldest trick in the abuser's handbook. They shatter your reality so you have to rely entirely on theirs. But you are not crazy. You are observant, and you are smart."
I pushed a document across the desk. "This is an authorization form. It allows my team to completely mirror his digital footprint. We don't need to physically go to the storage unit. We are going to trace the IP addresses of his shell companies, track the offshore wire transfers, and pull the metadata from his encrypted hard drives."
Elena looked at the paper, hesitating. "If he finds out..."
May you like
"He won't find out until we are standing in federal court with a judge freezing his accounts," I promised her. I reached out, and the silver bracelet on my wrist caught the light. "I stood in a cold garage once and realized my entire life was a lie. I know exactly how much it hurts. But the truth is your greatest weapon. Let me wield it for you."
Elena took a deep breath, picked up the pen, and signed her name. The hunt had begun.
