Chapter 30 - The Decryption

The next forty-eight hours were a grueling marathon of caffeine and complex algorithms. Chloe’s NSA contact had provided a powerful decryption tool, but Victor’s shadow ledger was protected by military-grade encryption. We essentially locked ourselves in the war room, running code while Arthur prepared the necessary legal injunctions for the moment we had undeniable proof.
"He is incredibly arrogant," I noted, staring at a string of code cascading down my monitor. "He named his primary offshore holding shell 'Vance Vanguard.' He couldn't even bother to keep his ego out of his money laundering."
"Narcissists always want to sign their work," Arthur replied from the sofa, reviewing the emergency divorce filings. "They believe they are so untouchable that leaving a signature is a demonstration of power rather than a liability."
Suddenly, Chloe slammed her hand on her desk. "I'm in! The final firewall just cracked. We have absolute, unrestricted access to the master ledger."
I rolled my chair over to her station. The screen populated with hundreds of banking records, wire transfers, and property deeds. My eyes scanned the data rapidly, looking for the specific signature of Eleanor's stolen trust fund. It didn't take long to find it.
"Look at this," I pointed to a series of massive transfers dated just three weeks after their wedding. "He didn't just merge her trust; he completely liquidated it. He moved forty million dollars through three different shell companies in the Cayman Islands, and finally deposited it into a private Swiss account registered solely under his name."
"It's textbook coercive control," Arthur said, standing up and looking at the screen with cold satisfaction. "He isolated her financially so she couldn't afford to fight him. But wait, look at the outbound transfers from that Swiss account."
Chloe filtered the outbound data. "He’s been making monthly payments of two hundred thousand dollars to an LLC in Nevada. 'Apex Solutions.' Let me run a quick trace on that company."

A few keystrokes later, Chloe's face went pale. "Maya, you are not going to believe this. Apex Solutions isn't a tech company. It's a high-end private security firm. Victor isn't just tracking Eleanor; he is paying a mercenary team to keep her under 24/7 physical surveillance. If she ever tried to run, they were contracted to intercept her and bring her back."
I felt a cold chill run down my spine. We weren't just fighting a white-collar criminal. We were dealing with a man who viewed his wife as a hostage. "Arthur, file the injunctions immediately. Chloe, prepare the extraction team. We are getting her out today."
