Chapter 28 - The Empire Expands

The massive success of the Arcadia project, coupled with the national exposure from the magazine cover, completely overwhelmed our current capacity. My small, boutique studio could no longer handle the sheer volume of high-end clients begging for our services.
It was time to expand the empire.
On a bright Wednesday morning, I stood in the center of a massive, raw commercial loft in downtown Scottsdale. The space was three times the size of our original studio, featuring exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors, and floor-to-ceiling industrial windows that flooded the room with brilliant natural light.
Sarah stood beside me, holding a clipboard containing the resumes of our ten new hires—five junior designers, three project managers, and two full-time administrative assistants.
"Can you believe this is ours?" Sarah asked, her voice echoing slightly in the vast, empty space.
"I can," I said confidently, visualizing exactly where the drafting tables, the massive material library, and the private client lounges would go. "We earned every single square foot of this space."
"The new team starts on Monday," Sarah noted, checking her list. "Are you ready to be the CEO of a major firm?"
I turned to look at her, a fierce, unbreakable determination burning in my chest.

"I am ready to lead," I clarified. "I want this studio to be a place where young, talented women can come and learn how to build their own empires. I want to teach them how to negotiate hard, how to trust their instincts, and how to never back down from an aggressive contractor or a demanding client."
I walked over to the massive window, looking out at the bustling city below. I was no longer just a survivor trying to scrape together a living. I was a formidable, terrifyingly powerful force of nature, and I was going to shape this city entirely on my own terms.
