Chapter 27 - The Arcadia Reveal

|
The culmination of eight months of grueling work finally arrived. The Arcadia project was entirely finished, down to the last perfectly placed throw pillow and polished marble countertop. I stood in the massive entryway with Sarah, waiting for Mr. Harrison and his family to arrive for the final walkthrough.
"I am so incredibly nervous," Sarah whispered, smoothing her black skirt for the fifth time.
"Don't be," I said calmly, looking at the breathtaking, light-drenched space. "We executed the vision flawlessly."
The heavy mahogany front door opened, and Mr. Harrison walked in, followed closely by his wife and two adult daughters.
The moment they stepped into the foyer, they completely froze. The space, which had once been a dark, segmented 1980s monstrosity, was now a sweeping, open-concept masterpiece of modern organic design. The massive skylights flooded the dark walnut floors with brilliant, warm light.
Mr. Harrison walked slowly into the main living area, running his hand over the custom-built stone fireplace. He turned toward the massive kitchen, taking in the beautiful quartzite counters and the seamless flow of the space.
He didn't speak for a very long time. The silence stretched, making Sarah shift nervously beside me.
Finally, Mr. Harrison turned to look at me. His usually stern, imposing eyes were entirely bright with unshed tears.
"Clara," he began, his deep voice thick with emotion. "When my wife and I bought this property, I thought we made a massive mistake. It felt cold and uninviting. I asked you to build me a house to retire in."
He looked at his wife, who was quietly weeping with joy as she explored the beautiful kitchen.
"You didn't build me a house," Mr. Harrison said, walking over and gently taking my hand. "You built me a home. It is an absolute masterpiece. I have never seen anything so beautiful in my entire life."

I smiled, a profound, heavy satisfaction settling deeply into my soul.
"Welcome home, Mr. Harrison," I whispered.
