Rachel clicked her remote, bringing up a series of financial slides on the boardroom display screen.
"Over the past six months," Rachel explained, her voice sharp and clinical, "COO Mark Mercer has systematically embezzled six hundred and forty thousand dollars from company reserves through a shell entity named VSR Consulting."
Slide after slide flashed on the screen: bank statements showing transfers from Whitmore Development directly into Vanessa Reed’s personal accounts, invoices for a luxury oceanfront condominium, receipts for gold jewelry, and digital metadata tracking the forged proxy document directly to Mark’s office computer.
"Furthermore," Rachel continued, "we have retrieved hospital corridor security footage showing Mr. Mercer arriving at my client's recovery room alongside his mistress, who was wearing only an overcoat, within six hours of my client undergoing emergency spinal surgery."
Mark slammed his fists on the conference table. "This is a private marital dispute! You can't fire me based on personal drama! I am the Chief Operating Officer! I have a contract!"
Gerald Price stood up, his tall frame towering over Mark.
"Your contract is void, Mark," Gerald said, his voice trembling with unadulterated disgust. "You have committed corporate fraud, forgery, grand larceny, and felony assault against the founder of this company."
"I am half owner of everything through marriage!" Mark screamed, looking around the room at the board members who were all staring at him with utter contempt. "You can't strip me of my shares!"

I leaned forward toward the camera lens, my gaze locking onto Mark’s wild, panicked eyes.
"You don't own a single share, Mark," I said softly.
