I divorced Grant swiftly and without a single negotiation. He had no leverage left to fight me. Under the strict terms of my grandmother’s trust, I completely retained control of Hart Development. But I couldn't bear to see his name on the building anymore.

I legally changed the company's name to Voss & Vanguard, honoring the brilliant attorney who had helped me burn my cage to the ground. I systematically removed every single executive, board member, and manager who had willfully ignored the glaring warning signs of Grant’s embezzlement and his violent temper. If they had looked the other way, they were fired.

I restructured the entire corporate culture from the ground up. The company became incredibly successful, focusing on ethical, sustainable community development rather than cutthroat luxury real estate.

More importantly, I created a massive, fully funded paid-leave program and a dedicated legal defense fund strictly for employees who were desperately trying to escape domestic violence. I made absolutely sure that no one in my company would ever have to choose between their physical safety and their financial survival.

The physical healing took much longer. The broken ribs eventually knit back together, the bruises faded from purple to yellow to nothing, but the psychological scars were deeper. I spent months in intensive therapy, slowly learning how to sleep without jumping at every small noise, and how to trust my own judgment again.
