Chapter 43 - The Exposure

|

Arthur pushed his way aggressively through the crowd of wealthy patrons, heading straight for the museum director. He clearly intended to cause a very public, very embarrassing scene in front of the local media to pressure the foundation into paying his extortion fee.

Before he could even reach the director, Marcus stepped smoothly into his path, completely blocking his advance like a solid wall of granite.

"Excuse me," Arthur sneered, looking up at Marcus with absolute disdain. "I have urgent legal business with the board."

"You have absolutely no business here, Arthur," I said, stepping up beside Marcus. Sarah Jenkins flanked me on the other side, holding a thick, official legal folder.

A few nearby reporters, sensing the sudden spike in tension, quietly turned their cameras toward our confrontation.

"I am not playing games with you tonight," Arthur hissed, keeping his voice low but venomous. "If the director doesn't sign a settlement agreement in the next ten minutes, I am going to hold an impromptu press conference right here and expose the foundation for funding a criminal's estate."

"You really should check your firm's email before making idle threats," Sarah Jenkins smiled sweetly, pulling a document from her folder. "The federal judge officially dismissed your fraudulent injunction yesterday afternoon. Eleanor Vance provided a sworn affidavit proving you committed blatant perjury."

Arthur’s smug expression instantly vanished. The color drained completely from his face as he stared at the official court seal on the dismissal paper.

"Furthermore," Sarah continued, raising her voice just enough for the reporters’ microphones to pick up the audio, "the district attorney has reviewed your attempt to extort a charitable foundation using forged documents."

The camera flashes suddenly intensified, blinding the disgraced attorney. Arthur looked frantically around the room, realizing too late that the entire narrative had violently flipped against him. He was completely exposed, trapped in the harsh, unforgiving light of the truth.
