Chapter 19 - The Fall of the House of Del Valle
The magistrate did not mince words.
"The preliminary injunction granting Mauricio Del Valle custody is hereby vacated immediately," she ruled, her voice booming through the silent room. "Full physical and legal custody of the unborn child is granted to the mother, Raquel Luján. Furthermore, a permanent restraining order is issued against Mauricio, Rebeca, Paola, and Emilio Del Valle."
Raquel let out a sob of pure relief, hugging Jimena tightly.
"Mauricio Del Valle," the judge continued. "You will remain in police custody without bail pending your criminal trial for aggravated assault, domestic violence, and witness tampering."
The gavel fell. The war was over.
The fallout over the next few weeks was catastrophic for the Del Valle family. The audio recordings from the gala were leaked to the press. Rebeca watched in horror as her prestigious charity foundation was seized by federal investigators. Her mansion was raided, and her name was dragged through the mud in the very newspapers that had once hailed her as a saintly benefactor.
Paola was completely ostracized from her high-society circles, forced to delete her social media and disappear from public view.
Emilio was permanently disbarred. His plea deal kept him out of a maximum-security prison, but he was sentenced to five years in a minimum-security facility for fraud.
