Chapter 18 - The Brother's Betrayal
The defense table was in absolute chaos. Emilio’s high-priced legal team was frantically whispering to each other, realizing that defending the Del Valles was now a massive liability to their own firm.
Emilio stared at the forensic evidence proving his involvement with the hackers. He knew that tampering with evidence, witness intimidation, and wire fraud carried a mandatory federal prison sentence. He was going to lose his law license, his wealth, and his freedom.
Panic completely overrode his family loyalty.
"Your Honor," Emilio suddenly shouted, standing up and pushing past his own lawyers. "I request to address the court and the prosecution regarding a plea arrangement."
"Emilio! What are you doing?" Doña Rebeca hissed, grabbing his arm.
Emilio violently yanked his arm away. "I'm saving myself, Mother!"
He turned to the judge. "I am willing to turn state's evidence. I can provide the original documents proving that the plot to strip Raquel of her custody was entirely premeditated prior to the divorce filing. I can prove my mother directed the funds. I can prove Mauricio instructed the witnesses to lie."
"You traitor!" Mauricio screamed, lunging across the table toward his brother.
The bailiffs immediately tackled Mauricio, pinning him to the floor. The courtroom erupted into chaotic shouting. Rebeca buried her face in her hands, realizing that her golden child had just sold her out to save his own skin.
Jimena Robles looked at Raquel and Guillermo, a triumphant smile crossing her face.

The magistrate slammed her gavel repeatedly until order was restored.
"Mr. Del Valle, the prosecution will speak with you in chambers," the magistrate said to Emilio. She then turned her attention back to the courtroom, her expression stern and resolute. "I have heard enough to make my ruling."
