Chapter 16

"You are making a massive mistake!" Victoria shrieked, throwing the silk covers off and scrambling to her feet. The polished, elegant facade she had maintained for three years completely shattered, revealing the desperate, vicious woman underneath. "Lily is a liar! Whatever she told you, she completely fabricated it to ruin our marriage! She has always been jealous of me!"

"Lily didn't tell me anything," I replied, my voice dangerously calm, refusing to give her the satisfaction of seeing my pain. "I came back last night. I found her shivering in the basement where you locked her. The hospital has fully documented her malnourishment and the bruises you left on her ribs. The police are already processing the medical reports."

Victoria’s face drained of all color. The arrogant defiance in her eyes was instantly replaced by a stark, absolute panic. She realized the game was entirely over. There was no manipulating her way out of medical evidence.

"You have twelve minutes left," I stated, checking my watch.

She didn't argue anymore. She ran to her massive walk-in closet, frantically shoving expensive designer dresses and shoes into a leather suitcase. She was crying, but they were tears of rage and self-pity, not remorse. She didn't care that she had nearly killed a child; she only cared that her luxurious, wealthy lifestyle was evaporating before her eyes.

At exactly six-thirty, the security guards escorted her down the staircase. She paused at the front door, looking back at me with a venomous glare that I would never forget.

"You are going to deeply regret this," Victoria spat, gripping her suitcase tightly. "I will take half of your entire company. My lawyers will completely destroy you."

"Let them try," I said, slamming the heavy oak door in her face. The echoing thud was the most beautiful sound I had heard in months. The cancer had finally been excised from our home.
