Chapter 14 - The Global Expansion

The destruction of David’s letter marked a profound psychological shift within me. I realized that surviving was no longer enough. The Two-Finger Shield could not just be a reactionary force, waiting for abused women to find us. We needed to become a proactive, massive, unavoidable presence in the lives of high-net-worth abusers across the globe.

I convened an emergency board meeting the following Monday.

"We are sitting on a massive endowment," I announced to the room of lawyers, security experts, and psychologists. "And the victory against Richard Cross has generated an incredible influx of private donations from ethical investors who believe in our mission. It is time we scale our operations. I want to open fully staffed, highly secure sanctuary chapters in Los Angeles, Dallas, and London by the end of the fiscal year."

Marcus, our security director, raised an eyebrow. "London? Sarah, international expansion introduces massive logistical and legal complications. The jurisdiction laws regarding concealed assets in Europe are a labyrinth."

"Then we hire the people who built the labyrinth to tear it down," I replied, completely uncompromising. "Abusers with extreme wealth do not restrict their financial terrorism to domestic borders. They hide their money in Switzerland, they buy properties in Dubai, and they use international law to trap their spouses. If we want to truly break them, we have to fight them on a global scale."

The board was quiet for a moment, absorbing the sheer, terrifying magnitude of my vision.

"It’s aggressive," Jessica, our lead counsel, finally smiled, a fierce, brilliant light in her eyes. "But it’s absolutely necessary. I’ll start recruiting international asset recovery specialists tomorrow."

Over the next six months, the foundation worked at a blistering, unrelenting pace. We purchased heavily fortified properties in our target cities, converting them into anonymous, luxurious safe houses that provided extreme security without feeling like a prison. We partnered with elite international law firms, creating a global network of attorneys entirely dedicated to pro bono domestic abuse litigation.

The Two-Finger Shield was no longer just a small organization in Rhode Island. We were rapidly becoming the single greatest threat to wealthy, abusive men on the planet. And we were just getting started.
