Chapter 29 - The ArchivistWe returned to the mansion before dawn.

Nobody slept.

The name lingered over every conversation.

The Archivist.

Sophia searched every intelligence database.

Nothing.

Alex contacted retired federal agents.

Nothing.

Adrian searched private military files.

Nothing.

It was as though the person had never existed.

Then Evelyn quietly spoke.

"I've heard the title before."

Everyone turned toward her.

"When?"

"When I was twelve."

She stared into the fireplace.

"My mother woke me in the middle of the night."

"She made me memorize one sentence."

Evelyn closed her eyes.

"'If your family ever disappears...'"

"'Find the librarian who never checks out books.'"

Silence.

Alex frowned.

"A librarian?"

Matteo slowly smiled.

"No."

"It's a code."

He rushed toward the old study.

Removing books one by one.

Finally...

He found an ancient leather volume.

The cover simply read:

ARCHIVES

Inside...

Every page was blank.

Until ultraviolet light touched the paper.

Invisible ink appeared.

Names.

Dates.

Photographs.

Thousands of them.

Every Whitmore birth.

Every death.

Every marriage.

Every betrayal.

Hidden for over a century.

At the final page...

One photograph remained.

An elderly man sitting alone inside a forgotten library.

Below the picture...

Only one sentence.

The Archivist keeps every lie... and every truth.

Then...

The photograph suddenly slid free from the book.

Behind it...

A handwritten address.

Not a library.

A psychiatric hospital abandoned fifteen years earlier.

Matteo whispered,

"He wants us to find him."
