Chapter 19 - The Kiss in the Library

The ride back to Breakers Mansion was quiet, heavy with an electric anticipation that made the air in the limousine feel incredibly thick.
When they walked through the front doors, the house was silent. The boys had been asleep for hours, watched over by a trusted night nurse.
Pedro led Abigail into the library, shutting the heavy mahogany doors behind them. The only light came from the dying embers in the fireplace, casting a warm, golden glow across the room.
Abigail turned to face him, her heart pounding a frantic rhythm against her ribs.
"Pedro," she started, but the words died in her throat.
He didn't give her a chance to overthink. He crossed the room in two long strides, closing the distance between them. He cupped her face with both hands, his thumbs gently tracing her cheekbones, looking down at her with a hunger he had suppressed for months.
"I have been terrified of this," Pedro whispered fiercely. "Terrified of ruining the peace you brought to my sons. Terrified of losing you."
"You aren't going to lose me," Abigail breathed, rising slightly on her tiptoes.
Pedro eliminated the final inch between them, crushing his lips against hers. The kiss was explosive, fueled by months of stolen glances, late-night conversations, and the desperate, overwhelming need they had both tried to ignore.
Abigail wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer, melting into the heat and strength of his body. Pedro's hands slid down to her waist, lifting her slightly as the kiss deepened, possessing her completely. It felt like coming home. It felt like salvation.
When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathing heavily, their foreheads resting together.
"I love you," Pedro murmured into the dark room. "Stay with me. Build a life with me."

Abigail smiled, tears of pure joy pricking her eyes. "I'm not going anywhere, Pedro. I promise."
For the first time in years, the billionaire CEO went to sleep knowing exactly what his future looked like.
