Chapter 36 - The StormAutumn brought a violent, unforgiving thunderstorm to the city.

The sky turned a bruised purple by mid-afternoon. Lightning cracked the sky in jagged halves, followed by thunder that rattled the glass windows of her studio.

The streets cleared instantly as rain poured down in heavy, relentless sheets.

She walked to the large storefront window and watched the storm rage outside.

There was a time when storms terrified her. They reminded her of the explosive anger she used to tiptoe around. The sudden, unpredictable violence of someone else's temper.

But standing there now, watching the rain wash the city streets clean, she realized she had changed.

The storm wasn't angry. It was just nature.

It was loud, it was messy, and it was temporary.
