CHAPTER 30 — The Horizon
Dusk settled over the skyline.
The streetlights flickered to life all at once, painting the pavement in warm, golden hues.
She stood on her small, iron-wrought balcony.
The cool evening wind caught her hair, sweeping it away from her face.
Below her, millions of people were rushing to their destinations, carrying their own burdens, their own stories.
The city was massive.
Intimidating.
Beautiful.
She rested her hands on the cold metal railing and took a deep breath of the chilled air.
