Chapter 17 - Justice and Restitution

Shouts of outrage erupted across the boardroom.
Board members stood up, pointing fingers and demanding answers as the damning evidence flashed across the screen page by page.
“This is absurd!” Marcus shouted, his face turning bright red as he pointed at Corbin. “This is a smear campaign! The boy fell! It was proven!”
“It was covered up, Marcus,” Corbin replied coldly. “By you and Richard.”
Richard Sterling tried to quietly slip toward the side exit, but the two state troopers immediately stepped into his path, blocking the doorway.
“Richard Sterling, Marcus Stanford,” Officer Miller announced, stepping forward with a set of steel handcuffs. “You are under arrest for corporate fraud, embezzlement, and obstruction of justice in connection with a fatal workplace incident.”
As the handcuffs clicked around his uncle’s wrists, Marcus glared at Corbin with pure venom.
“You’re destroying your father’s legacy, Corbin!” Marcus yelled as he was escorted out the door. “You’re destroying this family!”
“No, Marcus,” Corbin said, staring at his uncle without a trace of hesitation. “I’m finally cleaning it up.”
That afternoon, Corbin held an unprecedented press conference on the steps of the state capitol.
