Chapter 11: The Stained Marble

The pristine white marble of the grand staircase, usually a symbol of timeless elegance and architectural beauty, now bore the grim weight of violence. Faint smudges and traces of disruption marked the path of the fall, serving as physical evidence that could not be easily erased. The grandeur of the estate felt hollow, corrupted by the malicious intent that had manifested within its walls. Guests whispered among themselves, realizing that the stain on the floor was nothing compared to the permanent stain on the family's reputation.
Forensics, though not yet called, loomed large in the imagination of everyone present. Every person who stood watching the scene was now a potential witness to a heinous crime. The casual luxury of the evening had evaporated, replaced by the grim reality of criminal investigation. People shifted uncomfortably, realizing that associating with the hosts any longer could implicate them in the cover-up.
The physical setting itself seemed to mourn the tragedy. The bright chandelier light caught the tears on the victim's face and the grim determination on the rescuer's brow, highlighting every detail of the human cost of greed and jealousy. The marble floor, cold and unyielding, had acted as the executioner's block, turning a high-society gala into a theater of horror.
