Chapter 19 - A New Harmony|
By autumn of that year, life at the Belandi estate had reached a sweet, unbreakable harmony.
The city's syndicate had undergone a massive quiet purge. With Dominic gone and Celeste's memory cleared, Adrien had restructured his business, divesting from illegal gambling and focusing entirely on legitimate maritime trade and international shipping.
The city no longer spoke of the Belandi family in fearful whispers. They spoke of the legendary boss who had rebuilt his home around the love of his children and the poor waitress who had saved them all.
One evening, after the triplets were tucked into bed after a long night of bedtime stories, Adrien and Evelyn stood together on the high balcony overlooking the dark Atlantic Ocean.
The sea breeze blew gently through Evelyn's hair. Adrien stood behind her, wrapping his arms securely around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"I spoke to my legal team today," Adrien whispered into her ear.
Evelyn turned slightly in his arms. "Oh? About what?"
Adrien pulled a small, dark velvet box from his coat pocket and opened it under the moonlight. Inside sparkled an exquisite diamond ring, cut in the shape of a blooming rose.
"I want to make it official, Evelyn," Adrien said, his voice filled with deep, unwavering sincerity. "I want you to be my wife. I want you to be the mother of this house forever."
Tears of pure joy filled Evelyn's eyes. She looked into his dark, loving gaze and saw her entire future standing right before her.
