Chapter 15 - The Siege at the Estate|
BANG!
A deafening gunshot shattered the air in the cellar—but it didn't come from Dominic's weapon.
Dominic's right shoulder exploded in blood. He shrieked in pain, dropping his gun onto the stone steps as he stumbled backward.
At the top of the stairs, framing the doorway in towering silhouette, stood Adrien Belandi.
Behind him were eight heavily armed loyal enforcers, their weapons raised. Adrien’s face was a mask of absolute, demonic fury. He held a heavy caliber pistol, smoke still curling from the barrel.
"Get away from my children, Dominic," Adrien growled, his voice sounding like grinding granite.
"Boss!" Dominic gasped, clutching his bleeding shoulder, scrambling backward toward his two guards. "Listen to me! She tricked you! Evelyn snuck down here—"
"I heard everything over the nursery monitor, you snake," Adrien interrupted, stepping slowly down the stairs like an executioner. "I put an audio bug in Evelyn's apron three days ago to protect her. I heard every single word you just said."
Dominic’s face turned deathly pale. He realized his entire conspiracy had collapsed in a single instant.
