Chapter 14 - Confrontation in the Dark|

Evelyn immediately pushed the triplets behind her body, standing tall on the slippery stone stairs, shielding them from the gun.

"They remember everything, Dominic," Evelyn said, her voice remarkably steady despite the terror raging in her chest. "Adrien knows you've been stealing from him. Once he sees Celeste's journal, you're a dead man."

Dominic laughed, a hollow, terrifying sound that echoed off the damp stone walls.

"Adrien isn't coming back tonight, my dear," Dominic revealed, stepping closer. "The fire at the docks? I started it. It was a distraction to draw him and his loyal men away from the estate. By the time Adrien realizes what's happening, you, the kids, and Celeste's old journals will be at the bottom of the ocean."

"You're going to kill his children?" Evelyn gasped, horror choking her throat.

"I didn't want to," Dominic sighed, raising his silenced weapon. "I wanted them to stay quiet forever. But you broke their silence, Evelyn. You forced my hand. Once the children are gone, I'll claim a rival cartel attacked the estate while Adrien was away. Adrien will be destroyed by grief, and I will take control of the Belandi syndicate."

Leo stepped out from behind Evelyn's leg, staring at Dominic with dark, fearless eyes that looked remarkably like his father's.

"Daddy will kill you," Leo said clearly, his six-year-old voice filled with absolute conviction.

Dominic’s smile vanished, replaced by a dark, ugly rage. "Shut up, you little brat!"

Dominic raised the gun, leveling it directly at Evelyn's chest.

"Say goodbye, Miss Hart."
