Chapter 14 - Screen of Reckoning

"N-no..." Valeria gasped, her hands trembling violently as she took another step back. "Fernando, please... you don't understand—"
Without replying, Fernando walked over to the side table, picked up a master remote control, and pointed it at the massive 85-inch smart television mounted on the main living room wall.
With a soft chime, the screen flickered to life.
Fernando tapped a few commands into his smartphone, mirroring his private server feed directly onto the display.
"Officer, look at the screen," Fernando commanded.
The high-definition footage was crystal clear. It showed the top of the grand marble staircase from twenty minutes ago. The audio was pristine, capturing every single sound with chilling accuracy.
On the screen, Valeria was seen lunging at Rosa, shouting insults. The audio captured Rosa’s brave voice clearly: “The cancer funds! The offshore accounts in Zurich! You stole millions meant to save dying children!”
The police officers gasped, their hands dropping instantly to the leather holsters at their hips.
The video played on. It showed Valeria’s face twisting into a hideous mask of murderous rage. It captured the exact moment she grabbed the frail old woman, trapped her against the glass balustrade, and placed both hands on her chest.
Then came the horrific, brutal push.
The camera tracked Rosa’s horrifying fall, capturing the sickening cracks as her body hit the stone steps, while Valeria stood at the top, smiling triumphantly down at her victim.
"Turn it off! Turn it off!" Valeria shrieked, covering her ears, throwing herself onto her knees on the bloody marble floor. "It's a lie! It's an AI fake! He's trying to frame me!"

He turned to the two police officers. "Officers, I wish to press formal charges for attempted pre-meditated murder, grand embezzlement, and corporate fraud."
