"Paxton Greer, you are under arrest."
Federal Marshal Davis stepped forward, grabbing Paxton’s right wrist and pulling it behind his back.
The cold metallic click of the handcuff echoed sharply across the quiet ballroom.
Paxton didn't fight. He didn't scream. He let the marshals pull his other arm back, securing the steel cuffs tight against his wrists.
"You have the right to remain silent," Sterling read from a small card as the marshals turned Paxton toward the elevator. "Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law..."
As they walked him toward the open elevator doors, Paxton turned his head back one last time, staring at Lennox.
She stood near the window, her back turned to him, looking out at the gray Chicago skyline. Rain droplets slid down the heavy glass, casting long, liquid shadows across her face.
"Lennox!" Paxton called out, his voice desperate as the elevator doors began to slide shut. "Lennox!"

She didn't turn around.
The elevator chimed, the doors sealed shut, and Paxton Greer vanished from the fortieth floor forever.
