Chapter 13 - HUNT IN THE HAMPTONS|

Within thirty minutes, the gala was abandoned.
Dominic’s private strike team assembled at the safehouse, loading high-caliber weaponry and tactical gear into three black SUVs.
"She doesn't have the passcodes," Nora said, standing beside the main tactical screen as satellite imagery of the coast refreshed. "I watched her try to access the offshore nodes on the burner phone—she only had the decoy files Dominic set up for his test."
"The Morettis don't know that," Dominic said, strapping a tactical holster over his ribs. "When they realize she lied to them to get out of that federal van, they will torture her until she gives them anything—including your name, Nora."
Nora looked at the screen, where a red tracking blip was pulsing slowly near an abandoned lighthouse estate on the far tip of Long Island.
"You tracked her?" Nora asked.
"I didn't track her," Dominic replied, turning to look at her. "I tracked the six-carat diamond ring I took off her finger."
Nora blinked. "The ring?"
"The diamond was real," Dominic revealed with a cold, sharp smile. "The platinum setting contained a sub-dermal micro-transponder I had installed six months ago. I always know where my high-value assets are."
"She thinks she escaped," Nora said, understanding taking hold. "She thinks the Morettis are her saviors."
"She's about to learn that in my world, there are no saviors," Dominic growled, clicking a heavy magazine into his rifle. "Only consequences."
"I'm coming with you," Nora stated firmly.
Dominic stopped, turning his dark gaze onto her. "No. It's too dangerous."
"I know that estate," Nora insisted, pointing at the blueprint loading on the console. "I worked catering at the Moretti summer gala two years ago. I know every service entrance, every generator vault, and every blind spot in their security grid."

Dominic stared at her for five long seconds. Then he handed her a light Kevlar vest and a compact pistol.
"Don't lose my ring," he whispered.
