Chapter 10 - Perimeter Breach|

Naomi stood up instantly, her relaxed posture vanishing, replaced by absolute tactical alertness.

"What is it?" Ethan asked, standing up beside her.

"Someone just cut the power to the eastern gate," Naomi said, pulling a small silver comms device from her pocket. "Stay here."

"I'm coming with you," Ethan insisted.

"Ethan, no," Naomi commanded with authority that left no room for argument. "My job is your protection. Lock this kitchen door from the inside."

Naomi slipped out into the dark hallway, moving like a shadow through the silent mansion. Rain lashed against the heavy glass doors of the terrace. She reached into a concealed wall panel in the corridor, pulling out a tactical earpiece and a silenced 9mm sidearm Harold had authorized for her.

She tapped her earpiece. "Security desk, report."

Static hissed in her ear. No response.

Naomi’s chest tightened. The estate’s internal security team had been compromised.

She reached the main foyer, staying low behind the marble pillars. The front doors hung slightly ajar, letting in the freezing night wind. Three dark figures slipped through the doorway, tactical night-vision goggles strapped to their helmets, suppressed rifles held at ready-low.

These were not angry corporate rivals. These were professional mercenaries.

Naomi pressed her back against the marble column, her breath even, her mind instantly calculating angles and entry points.
