Chapter 18

|

"Fraudulent?" Alexander Sterling snapped, standing up from his leather chair and slamming his hands on the mahogany table. "You pathetic old fool. The money is absolutely real. My syndicate’s escrow transfer just cleared!"

"The transfer initiated, yes," Julian corrected, a dark, terrifying smile finally breaking across his rugged face. He tapped his tablet, projecting a live banking feed onto the massive screen at the end of the boardroom.

The screen showed a transfer of four billion dollars from Sterling's offshore syndicate. But the receiving account was flashing bright red, indicating a massive, irrevocable federal lock.

"What did you do?" Alexander demanded, his voice cracking slightly with panic.

"I let you take the bait," Julian explained smoothly, leaning back in his chair. "Elena and Rosa didn't just expose your PR smear campaign, Alexander. They handed over the metadata of your forged documents directly to the SEC and the Federal Financial Crimes Division."

Elena spoke up, her voice ringing with absolute, icy authority. "By attempting to execute a hostile takeover using capital derived from those specific, federally flagged offshore accounts, you just committed a massive act of international wire fraud."

"Your four billion dollars didn't go into escrow, Alexander," Julian finished, his eyes locking onto Sterling’s terrified face. "It went directly into a federal seizure account. You just bankrupted your entire syndicate, and you handed the evidence directly to the United States government."

Alexander stared at the screen, all the blood draining from his face. The predator had just realized he was standing inside a steel cage.

"This isn't over," Alexander hissed, his composed facade entirely shattered into desperate, animalistic panic. He turned and sprinted for the heavy glass doors of the boardroom, his expensive litigators scrambling awkwardly behind him.

"Let him run," Julian ordered quietly as the security team at the door moved to intercept. "The FBI is waiting for him in the lobby. He won't make it to the street."

Julian turned back to the stunned board members, adjusting his cuffs with perfect, terrifying calm.

"Now," Julian smiled, entirely back in command of his empire. "Let's review the quarterly projections for the Foundation."
