Grace called us on Sundays. She complained about the dining hall food. She mentioned an anatomy professor who spoke too fast. She did not mention cameras or sponsors.

I was no longer the manager of Grace’s accounts, but as an optional adviser, I received quarterly updates regarding the anonymous legal fund Grace had established.

"The first disbursement was finalized this morning," the trustee informed me over the phone.

"Was it a successful intervention?" I asked.

"Yes. The recipient is a twelve-year-old boy in a neighboring state. His parents were monetizing his behavioral therapy sessions. He wanted to stop. They refused."

I closed my eyes, remembering the clinical weight of a camera pointed at a vulnerable child.

"How did the fund help?"

"We provided independent legal counsel for the boy. The attorney filed a petition asserting his right to medical privacy. The channel was forced to remove all medical and therapeutic content. The parents’ access to his generated revenue has been temporarily frozen pending a full audit."

"Does the boy know who paid for his lawyer?"

"No," the trustee said. "As Grace requested, the funding entity remains entirely anonymous. The boy only knows that the law worked for him today."

When Grace called that Sunday, I did not bring up the trustee’s report.

It was not my secret to reveal, nor was it my victory to celebrate. Grace had separated her philanthropy from her identity. She did not need applause.
