Chapter 19 - THE FALL OF THE EMPIRE|

Victor’s hand trembled violent against the grip of the revolver. The veins on his neck bulged as he stared at the glowing green webcam light, realizing that every second he stood there holding a gun was being permanently recorded into human history.

"Boss!" one of his guards panicked, checking his phone. "The FBI! They just breached the lobby downstairs! Tactical teams are coming up the elevators!"

"Shut it off! Shut the stream off!" Victor screamed hysterically, smashing his gun down onto the laptop screen again and again until the monitor was a crushed pile of plastic and metal.

But the damage was already done.

BOOM!

The heavy double doors of the penthouse office blew inward as a Flashbang grenade detonated, filling the room with blinding white light and deafening noise.

Federal agents in heavy tactical gear poured into the room, their weapons trained on everyone.

"FBI! Don't move! Drop the weapon! Drop it now!"

Victor froze, the nickel-plated revolver slipping from his sweaty fingers and clattering onto the floor. The agents tackled him to the ground, pinning his arms behind his back and forcing his face hard against the marble tiles.

"Victor Vance," a senior FBI agent announced, pulling out a pair of steel handcuffs. "You are under arrest for federal racketeering, wire fraud, treason, and conspiracy to commit murder."

As they dragged Victor away, he screamed at me over his shoulder, his polished political persona completely reduced to ashes. "You destroyed us, Hannah! You destroyed your own family!"

"You destroyed yourself, Victor," I said quietly, watching him disappear into the elevator in chains.

I hobbled over to Clara, quickly pulling the tape off her mouth and cutting her wrist ties. She threw her arms around me, sobbing hysterically into my shoulder.

"Hannah... I thought you were dead..." Clara wept.

"I'm here, sweetie," I whispered, holding her tight. "It's over."
