Chapter 19 - The Mastermind Unmasked

Within forty-five minutes, Marcus’s private tactical security team swept onto the deck of the Sterling Monarch.
The mercenaries were disarmed, detained, and handed over to international maritime authorities without a single loss of life among our crew.
Inside the vessel’s command bridge, Marcus found a satellite phone left behind by the mercenary leader. The last dialed number was connected directly to a penthouse suite in Zurich.
At 9:00 a.m. the following morning, I arrived in Zurich via private jet, accompanied by Julian Vance and our legal team.
We walked into the grand marble lobby of the Vanguard Global headquarters, bypassing the frantic reception staff, and stepped into the top-floor penthouse office.
Marcus Vance was sitting behind his glass desk, smoking a cigar, looking out over the Alps.
He turned around, expecting his assistants, but stopped when he saw me standing in his doorway.
“Victoria Sterling,” Marcus Vance sneered, setting his cigar in an ashtray. “I see you survived my little maritime surprise.”
“Your mercenaries are currently in a Dutch federal prison, Marcus,” I said smoothly, walking toward his desk. “And your company, Vanguard Global, is officially bankrupt.”
Marcus chuckled bitterly. “Bankrupt? You can’t touch my Swiss assets!”
Julian Vance stepped forward, laying a thick legal document on the glass desk.

“We bought ninety percent of your short-term debt bonds three hours ago, Uncle,” Julian said with cold satisfaction. “And when your mercenaries were arrested, they surrendered your encrypted satellite logs linking you directly to international piracy and corporate sabotage.”
Marcus Vance’s face turned pale. The cigar smoke drifted silently around his head as the reality of his total defeat sank in.
