Chapter 17 - Shadows from Prison

I stared at the financial documents spread across the garden table.
“Who is behind the Geneva conglomerate?” I asked, my voice turning cold and focused.
“A firm called Vanguard Global,” Julian replied. “Their primary shareholder is Marcus Vance—my estranged uncle.”
The pieces began falling into place.
Marcus Vance had lost a fierce corporate war against my grandfather fifteen years ago. He had vowed to dismantle Sterling Global piece by piece.
“Ethan thought he was clever,” I realized aloud. “In reality, Marcus Vance fed him the instructions to set up the shell companies, knowing that if Ethan got caught, he would take the fall while Marcus extracted billions from our supply chain.”
“Precisely,” Julian said. “And now that Ethan is in prison, Marcus Vance is launching a hostile takeover of our European shipping routes to force Sterling Global into bankruptcy.”
My grandfather leaned forward, his eyes flashing with fire. “Marcus Vance always was a coward who fought from the shadows.”
“He doesn't know that we’ve uncovered his trail,” I said, a slow, determined smile spreading across my face. “He thinks I’m just a woman who got lucky in court.”
I looked at Julian. “How fast can we mobilize our capital reserves?”

“Within twenty-four hours,” Julian answered, his eyes gleaming with admiration. “We can acquire Vanguard’s debt obligations and trap Marcus in his own financial snare.”
“Then let’s begin,” I said firmly. “It’s time to show Marcus Vance what happens when you challenge the Sterling legacy.”
